Why you should play Battlefield 1942!!

Well, besides the obvious that it's teh own... it looks GREAT with some of the settings turned up. Here's a directory with some screenshots, but bear in mind these were 2-3mb files uncompressed (the screenshots), compressed down to around 100k so the quality isn't as good as in-game, but it still looks good:

It's great, just too bad there's not a server around run by people we know. And no linux port combined with HUGE resource usage means I can't run one myself on my big pipes, sucks.

I've experienced the load it takes to run a bf server.

Also the interface SUCKS.

It seems that the way of games running on most any machine is over.

Kinda sucks, especially when clans need servers for leagues to perpetuate the games.

There's still the ability to host your own or rent one, but at one game instance per cpu and every client's minimum bandwidth requirement being around 70k/sec it won't be cheap.

Oh man, I saw that way back when the demo came out. I downloaded it soley based on that movie. One magical day, when my connection fixes, I'll drive you areound in a jeep and swing my head around and make you laugh so hard you'll thin you are playing Half Life on that horrible engine and wishing you were playing *daddy's penis*.

I think that looks great. And it's just 16bit color (I've never been a fan of 32bit in games... if I'm running around shooting shit, last thing I'm going to do is look to admire the color depth of a texture and get killed).

LMAOROTFL! DAMN RIGHT DLINK! Plus 32bit color lowers frames. Besides, there are VERY few games that actually require or look ANY different in 32bit. Morrowind requires it but needs it for some of the gorgeous effects in-game. Other than that it all looks about the same to me. *seph's a fag* looks slightly different when using DirextX mode, but not worth the frame loss. OpenGL and Glide look no different, at least to me.
