wut kind of computers you using ?

Postby Axiom » Thu Mar 21, 2002 12:04 pm

Im not really a big dog.

Both of my computers were built using parts I had lying around. Yes, I have several cpu's, lots of ram and a couple hard drives just lying around.

I can get it clocked up to 500mhz (well 466, close enough), it just runs REAL hot. And I played RtCW with around 20-30fps. Not godlike, but PLENTY smooth.

CPU: PII 400MHz with MMX
RAM: 192MB SDRAM
Video: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP
- Driver: Omega 1.03b
Connection: 768/384 ADSL
OS: Windows 2000 Professional SP2

This computer has proven quite well in my gaming experiences over the years.

I do have a faster computer (Celeron 800MHz, and whatever you say about Celeron, the benchmarks I've done are awesome), but that is a dedicated domain server, web server, mail server, etc., etc.

My FPS rate seems a bit eratic. In a 800x600 resolution, I can obtain 60FPS, for instance, standing at the bottom of the ramps on 2fort, but 15-20FPS looking at the battlements from the sniper-deck.

Oh, and DLinkOZ, please read my post about my stealing your precious TFC ranking.

I haven't heard from the guys that played CS in quite some time. I keep in touch with a lot of the original OESM guys (tfc) quite regularly, though.

WHO ARE YOU?!?!

In the spirit of this post, I recently built:

Athlon 64 3200 (running at 4400 speeds)
DFI Lanparty U T Ultra (spaced the U and T, due to an old rule back when Seph talked about "that game" all the damn time!)
Geforce 6600GT
gig of ram
250GB SATA II

My son's pc died, so I gave him that. Now I'm looking at building the following (not now, but within a few months):

Athlon 64 4400 X2
Abit KN8 SLI
Geforce 7800 GT
2GB ram
dual 250GB SATA II (16mb buffer) in RAID 0 (I backup daily to my NAS filer, so the speed boost is nice and not worried about reliability)
