Map changing delay?

Postby Guest » Thu Mar 15, 2001 2:08 pm

It's not a major problem but I have noticed that there is a big delay when the servers use the mapcycle to change maps. It seems to take 2 or 3 minutes. When using the changelevel command it works fine. I have seen this on other OESM servers as well. If anyone has an idea, I very much appreciate some advice. Note I have servers OESM9 and 10.

Map changing delay?

It's a "feature". The Half Life dedicated server will sit for up to 120 seconds at the end of a round before changing maps. Someone has to hit the fire key or use key to force a map change. This is true of all servers, just on others with more people someone else there hits the fire key.

Did not know that, thanks for the info. I have to say, it be nice to not have such a feature or at least have some control over the amout of time it waits.

Yep, and it's been discussed MANY times on Valve's admin mailing list. It's just one of those legacy "features" that doesn't show any sign of going away.
